After 26/11, the first attack very similar struck Pune yesterday in a bakery close to Osho Ashram. It is clear that they chose a place frequented by foreigners for maximum publicity and attention and also at a time when the entire police was deployed to guard the interests of an actor. Let them not openly admit it and blacken the face, but they should learn the right lessons of not getting involved in an ego trip beyond a certain limit. This is a sensitive state and there should be no room for complacency. The priorities cannot be compromised , even if for political gains. For a while it looked as if only Joy rides and Theaters screening MNIK are the safest places in the state. The ways of Shivsena or whoever may not be liked by others, but instead of confrontation, the option of continuous dialogue should not be given up. Even if in Opposition, they represent a sizable electorate of the state and the city and hence they cannot be ignored totally. After all when you can talk to Pakistan and the naxalities why not the sena? Or is it that the government will talk only if with arms?
But what is reassuring is the way Chidambaram handled this blast, so far. He immediately made a visit to Pune, his warning and advice to media, assurance that the vigil is there and this is just an one off, his measured words and body language, his assigning the investigation to proper agencies and everything points to the fact that the nation is in the right hands. His way of handling Internal security has been commended by even his foes and there is nothing to dilute. The media needs to be more responsible and level headed. The citizens also should be more cautious and aware of in what age we are living. Cooperation and collaboration is the only way to beat the terror.
Media is inadvertently a reason for three recent crimes. One the scaring of Rathore's face, Second the blackening of Muthalik's face and third now a bomb blast in pune. The over sensitization of any matter for TRP sake is the culprit in each case. Taking sides and almost justifying the acts in case of the former two, the media is encouraging revenge? There is an argument and counter argument in the Times whether it is correct to blacken Muthalik's face, how low can you go? Media should be ethical and by rules, for rules and set an example rather than take the society to primitive age. We in India seem to learn only if Terrorists will?
