Mahinda is way ahead

As of 12.15 PM IST, Mahinda Rajapakse is leading by 14,04,388 votes. and has secured 61.87% of votes against 37.09% by Fonseka. Except for two or three places he is ahead . He was trailing only in some areas of Yapanaya, Trincomalee,Badulla,Digamadulla and Colombo.

Fonseka lost in his home constituency of Ambalangoda in the island's south with Rajapakse getting 33,488 votes against his 19,191
