DO YOU KNOW WHICH IS THE SECOND MOST VIEWED CHANNEL IN SALEM? - NOT KALIGNAR NOR JAYA NOR MEGA. IT IS POLIMER, A LOCAL CHANNEL. IT IS THE BRAIN CHILD OF MR. PV KALYANASUNDARAM AND IS NOW A POPULAR LOCAL CHANNEL IN SALEM,ERODE,COIMBATORE AND OUTSKIRTS OF CHENNAI TOO.
IT IS NOW COMING TO THE MAINSTREAM AND IS EXPECTED TO STREAM LIVE BY AUGUST 2009. In a big prize catch it recently poached Mr. V. Murali Raaman from Jaya TV. Last year it poached Mr. R. Kalairajan from Raj TV.
Murali Raaman, vice-president, programmes and operations, Jaya TV, has joined as chief executive officer, Polimer Media. He will be reporting to PV Kalyanasundaram, chairman and managing director, Polimer Media.
In September 2008, SeaChange International, one of the leading suppliers to television broadcasters globally, announced that Polimer TV has deployed a new play-to-air platform using its Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaClient (BML/MCL) architecture.
In the same month, R. Kalairajan, who was working with Raj Television Network as the chief technical officer was roped in to be as the chief operating officer.
They expected to have a soft launch in December 2008, but here we are in July and they expect August to be auspicious.
In his new role, Raaman's responsibility would be to see through the launch of the Polimer's channel besides creating content that can woo audience from the Sun TV and other dominant channels. Chennai-based Fifth Estate Communications is handling the creative duties for Polimer TV.
Polimer TV also has a separate music local channel. The channel promises to be different, and has plans to show news differently and also have a novel menu for it's audience. At present though it looks like saturation in Tamil TV space, most channels look alike and so any difference may be welcome. the Star example is Vijay TV which in spite of no political back up [ though from a powerful International media & tv house Star group]has made a remarkable mark in the arena.
Polimer will have a head start in already having the west in it's pocket and also having big names in the management may make it the dragon of the year.
Will the "family" let live? PVK has seen many IT cases and raids just a few years back during this reign, as if others in Salem are nobler than he.

ReplyDeleteThis is Sumathy, resident of Madurai. Today is 4th November. I was watching your channel by 6.10 in the evening. Hindi lessons are taught by Ms.Sujatha Viajay. I was shocked when I observed some basic silly mistakes in the show.
"Ru" the first alphabet of "Rishi" is taught as "Thra".
There is no "Kuril"(short sounding) for AE. (First alphabet of AEN? in Tamil.) She taught EI (EINDHU means five) as Nedil of AE. She skipped EI and gone for OO.
She taught Roti is Paruppu. You can replay and notice this. Even this can be taken as slip of the tongue.
I knew the standard of Polimer TV and I would like to bring it to your kind notice that such silly mistakes should be seriously viewed.
