Mass gambling- Times of Sunday?

This is an intelligent move so it seems, for a Sunday Morning. Sell Tambola Tickets instead of News and guess what the former sells like hot cakes in Tamilnadu. Nothing lures a Tamilian more than a probability of getting something free and surely this is a thoughtful step. No one gets lured by freebies as much as a tamilian and that is why the Tambola in Chennai may have the maximum returns.

There was a time when many North eastern states sold Lottery tickets in Tamilnadu to fund their state activities. When Lottery was allowed, Tamilnadu was the undisputed number one in sales where many had become pauper here to make 'others' rich.

Times of India has advertised that the prize money may go up to 50 lakhs. Surely the Manipur and Mizo Governments must be waiting to see the outcome for then they also can start a Tambola and announce results in some manipuri edition, which will then sell as hot cakes in 'Tamil' Nadu. If Times is really going to give away so much money, they can sack all their Correspondents and reporters and sell marathi edition too- there will be more buyers.

In New Zealand, Housie[ same as Tambola] is allowed in clubs without license only if prize money is less than $5,000 or less, and turnover of the gambling is $25,000 or less.

In Australia Bingo[ same as Housie and tambola] is very Popular and there are many online sites too. But there are rules to govern it. A permit or approval is required.

Clearly Tambola is a Game of Chance and if this chance from the west is allowed why not the scratch chances from the North east?

And you know what, this come only in the Chennai edition. probably the silence on 'Balaji' was the permit.

The Hindustan Times is right now running a similar campaign in Dehradun and Haridwar whre the tickets are pinned in Hindustan main paper or Remix or Nai Dishayen. [ 1.6.09 up to 15.07.09]

Airtel had a very similar Tambola game in Andra in collaboration with Maa TV in 2004 called AirTel Lakshadhikari’

Idea Cellular and AajTak Tv had the same in 2003.

Then you have the Mirchi Tambola in the radio and Airtel Gujarat Tambola. A local Channel in Madurai has a regular tambola show.

There are no clubs in India without a Tambola event and no Kitty parties can Suceed without these tickets. So what's wrong if you play it at 6.00 am on a sunday and from then on every day at 6.00. It is always good to start the day with a tam- bola?

How many numbers did you get today? [ I got Three]

Very soon you will see a rag picker buying Sunday Times, just for a chance. And some houses may order hundred copies or more per house on Sundays
