The Side middle berth in the Indian railways goes away- what a relief. From today the side middle berth will not be there. The trains will have only 72 berths a coach like long before.
The order to cancel the middle berths came in April and reservations stopped from May, but the actual 'no' to it starts from today. This is because reservations are done three months in advance and there were many who had tickets in hand for the middle.
However Garib Raths will continue to have the third berth. It is specially designed claims Railways. see earlier post- Side Jammed
