1. Cauvery
While on a visit to Tamilnadu templea, the Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr.B S Yeddyurappa has categorically stated that karnataka is in no position to release water to Tamilnadu as monsoon is failing in karnataka and level in karnataka dams dipping.

“The water level at KRS reservoir has depleted. There is no water for drinking, let alone for irrigation. This being the situation, how we can release water?” he asked. The water level at the KRS reservoir is just 72 feet, which is only 8 feet above the dead storage level of 64 feet. According to the final award of the Cauvery River Dispute Tribunal, the State is supposed to release 10 tmcft water in June to Tamil Nadu.

2. Periyar
Meanwhile, The Kerala government Wednesday cautioned that the Mullaperiyar dam on Kerala-Tamil Nadu border was in a "highly critical state and a human casualty in the event of collapse of the 112-year-old structure will be unpredictable".

Replying to questions in the assembly, Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran said the state had informed the Tamil Nadu government, which controls the dam located on the Kerala side, that the findings of an experts' committee that visited it recently had been alarming.

3.Palar
Very recently, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh had said that he would clear the Palar reservoir project, proposed by Andhra Pradesh, in 15 days. Mr. Durai Murugan , Minister here had promised then to seek clarification.

4. Neyyar
Kerala continues to insist that this is not an inter state river.

5.Mettur
The water level in the Mettur Dam stood at 61.32 feet on Thursday, against its full level of 120 feet. The inflow was 402 cusecs and the discharge, 1,825 cusecs.

6.Andhra
Water woes is the top most problem now in the state. Many prayers and yagnas are being held all over the state. Prayers were held in Vijayawada, Nellore, Khammam, etc. Meanwhile there was downpour in Vizak and Chittoor yesterday.

  1. But in Kerala there is plenty of water then why they are not releasing. Monsoon is late so it will reach northern regions a bit late but sure it will be there next month.
