Breaking News: Plane strays in to Indian Space. Force landed in Mumbai. Some Channels report it as a US plane. NDTV claims it may be Russian too. IS IT A SPY PLANE? The Plane has AN124 written. The An-124 was manufactured in parallel by two plants: the Russian company Aviastar-SP and by the Kyiv Aviation Plant AVIANT, in Ukraine. Series production ceased with the break up of the Soviet Union.
Timesnow reports it is a AN32 plane and an USA plane. It is expected to land in one hour time in Mumbai says CNN-IBN. While NDTV and Timesnow claim it has force landed in Mumbai. The Antonov An-32 is a twin-engined turboprop military transport aircraft. And this is also a Russian make. So what is this US angle? Something fishy?
The NDTV reporter presented the news as if she saw the marking AN124 in the plane.
Timesnow later on changes version- it now reports it as a russian plane with AN24 markings. Both Timesnow and CNN-IBN report plane had ammunition and 2 crew members.
And then after so much breaking the news by channels it finally turned out to be a Ukranian/Russian plane taken by k USA in lease carrying military trucks , which strayed in to indian airspace.
IAF PRO Wing Commander T K Singha said the plane, which entered the Indian airspace at around 2000 hrs, did not have the permission to fly over the Indian airspace.
The plane was then asked to land at the Mumbai airport which the aircraft did at 2240 hrs, he told CNN-IBN.
Mr. Singha described as "untrue" earlier reports that the plane was escorted by Indian Air Force planes up to the airport here.
IAF officials and central intelligence sleuths were questioning the people on board the aircraft.
IAF sources said the plane apparently belonging to the United States took off from Diego Garcia island, a military base near Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, and was headed for Kandahar in Afghanistan.
While some papers report that the plane had 5 crew members Timesnow reports 18 crew members. IBN reports Russian , while times now reports Ukrainian.
Now it is conformed AN124 .
