Enna porutham is the brainchild of Prabhu Nepal who brings new ideas to the small screen and is screened on Jaya TV every tuesday from 9.30 to 10.30pm. This new game show is conducted by small screen couple Chetan and Devadarshini. During the initial contest, 10 couples were chosen from a 100 couples. 4 couples are from Chennai and 3 each from Madurai and Coimbatore.



The show highlights the finer aspects of married life, focussing on various emotions and sentiments besides testing the IQ level of each pair and compatibility between them.

Isai Aruvi flows

Among the music channels Isaiaruvi is doing reasonably well. Sethu the famous compere is the only one who is in both Jaya and Kalaignar camp. He is ofcourse the face of Vijay comedy also. He conducts a program Enodu pesunga in Isai aruvi. The other famous anchors of Isai Aruvi are

Dance Jodi Dance in Jaya TV is entering semifinals stage. There are 17 participants. A special show shot at VGP ecr road will be telecast coming Wednesday at 9,.30pm in Jaya TV. Girish, famous singer will be special guest.

Let us give back

The recent reddening of the pink city calls for a increase in vigil and public awareness. We are a nation surrounded by not so friendly countries eager to see us fall/fail and that should make us more alert and cautious. The public should interact more with the police and the police should increase their combing and raids on suspect locations. It is impossible for any police anywhere to guard all locations at all time and it will be immature to think terrorism can be eradicated. We suggest a few measures which should be taken immediately to help reduce such incidents.
1.Any material left unattended even by a mistake should be reported by public to authorities and the person who did it if found should be fined heftily.
2.Hotels especially the medium and small ones should not accept people on board without id cards. All hotels should carry id proofs of their residents.
3.Steps should be made to issue id cards to all citizens.[long term]
4.Even sale of cycles/cars/bikes/scooters should be to people from nearby localities with address proof.
5.All sale and movement of inflammable material should be accounted for.
6.Periodic raids in hotels and public places should be carried by police.
7.Police should be more approachable and people friendly
8.More equipments and CCTV should be provided/planted by/for police.
9.All check points an all access to important towns and cities should have armed guards who should make their vigil and checking more than routine.
10.All car/cycle parking's should be checked thoroughly.Shopkeepers should be made responsible for safe parking in front of their establishment.
11.On festival eve and important days police should be on greater alert
12.Border security should be strengthened.
13.Internet and wireless communication should be monitored
14.Big prizes and security should be provided for informers.
15.All parties should unite in their resolve in curbing terrorism.
16.Laws and verdicts should be such which should be deterrent for such activities.
17.All efforts should be taken to nab culprits and they should be punished by fast courts.
18.More money should be given for police force and better system should be implemented.
19.School education on alert measures and crisis management should be a must
20.All offices and shop establishments should have compulsory periodic crisis management practice drills.

Gods are failing?

A mini survey among known circles revealed a surprise. Thiruvilayadal is losing to alaipayuthae in Jaya TV. Infact the surprise is some Jaya Tv prograsms are getting support from traditional Sun TV viewers. Jodi program hosted by the famous tele psair in Jaya TV has support. Even vaira nenjam has more viewers than Thiruvilayadal. May be men of today no more like to see gods in NTR costumes. The resent kadavul movie where god lives as simpleton for a while in earth along with two unemployed youth is doing well. Probably an eye opener for the producers to show god in more friendly manner, as one among us.

Not that Thiruvilayadal and Ramayan are flops but they are not bringing eyeballs like the NDTV imagine or the ersewhile doordarshan did.

The Red Rose

The raves and waves Rose created in Feb and March is slowly turning in to ripples, so it seems. What is going wrong?
1. Vijay TV is not promoting her or her program. Except for some advertisements a day before or a couple, no mention is worth.
2. The program content itself is tending to be so melancholic and sober with less of antics and sensation normally required for high TRP's.
3. Rose is involving more common faces in the program and many episodes look like extension or repetition of earlier one's.
4. Rose is more and more trying to stress on her opinion to frame a verdict. For example in yesterday's episode more than the couple she was convinced that lack of sex is the major factor for the separation of the couple in the show and she kept asking leading question to prove her point.
5. Drama, tempo and a definite opening and end lacks in all her episodes
6. If Neeya Naana is ten then Rose is 4.
7. Audience participation is almost nil.
8. The pace of the program is very slow.
9. In a holiday season when most kids are hooked to TV at night, many competitive programs seems to take the shine away.
10. Ari giri assembly is taking away some of her share.

Will this article make her red or more pink? - Time will tell.

Why Jaipur and why on May 13th? Intelligence should ask these questions also, in their search for the perpetrators. Was the target, the booming economy? Or is it the booming tourism of Jaipur? Or was it to ‘fix’ results for the Karnataka and other forthcoming state elections? Is it a cruel answer to BJP for raising Terrorism as main issue in Karnataka polls?

The media is to be blamed. The over focus on such attacks prompts the attackers to do it again and again. Recently a Tamilnadu minister resigned for trying to free a corrupt officer from investigation, caught in a tape conversation. No English channel had this as main news. But Jaipur is hot for them and the color red attracts them and they use it to raise TRP.

First the media should be discouraged to focus on this and this itself will act as a deterrent. So many innocent lives have been and in a day or two we will again forget and forgive. Life will become normal and we will ourselves pat us for the resilience. The perpetrators meanwhile will start planning for their next episode. How long will this drama continue?

Should we hit back- screams a channel you cannot hit back says a Kashmiri in the same channel. We can if we have the will. Spend as much money as for a chandrayan project or even more but track all the popular terrorists and finish them., starting with Dawood. Only that is the solution. How much will it take to get dawood? A 1000 crores? 2000? Spend it but get him similarly get the mazhar, memon and masoods. Improve vigil and teach safety and precaution from school onwards. If we cannot eliminate terrorism we should atleast learn to live with it.

This habit of forgetting events should cease. We are getting more and more immune to any tragedy and that is not good. We should learn and atleast save the next possible victim.

This is one show with a difference. No other channel in India is having a similar program and this is one of the originals in Tamil channels. Ari giri assembly is back and with a difference. The first one was hosted by Bosky and asthapovathu aru fame Citi Babu Infact chittibabu became famous only by this program.

Bosky and kalakka povathu aru fame Sethu are hosting the fresh ari giri Assembly. The plot is simple. They start with some teasers and then grill a celebrity invitee and also welcome their barge in a section they call reverse gear. They end with some funny replies to planted sms and similar. The guests should be aware of the characters and hence are expected to guard their nerves. They can be very insulting at times. And that is fun. It is very entertaining and brings smile before sleep. The naked truth

Four important judgements/notices on the same day is not a mere coincidence. Was it designed to dilute focus on one or more of them? Especially the sethu and hussien one’s. Out of the four, Times of India picked Hussien as the most important and wrote an editorial going gaga over the judgement. “The high court’s strong judgement is vindication in capital letters for the artist who has been driven out of India by his opponents. At the same time, it is an elating news for thousands of other artists who have shied away from controversial art, for fear of reprisals and potential legal worries’- it said. Well an artist delight but at what cost?
Maqbool Fida Husain,according to Forbes magazine, is called the "Picasso of India. He will be 93 years old by this September and to drag such an old genius to the courts may be wrong. He is the most paid artist of India and one of his paintings won 2 million dollars in an auction. He is a padma vibushan and many notables like shashi taroor are canvassing for bharat ratna for him. He is well known all over the world and so India should be proud of him.
But there is something hidden in the canvas. He is well known since 1940 that is nearly for sixty years. But his paintings became a rage and got him mounts of money mainly from 90’s onwards. And it is exactly since, he is always in news by some controversy. He made some nude paintings of Hindu gods in the seventies and they got him controversy when they were published in a vernacular weekly in the nineties. Then he made some movies with maduri dixit and tabu and kept himself in news. He was crazy about maduri[fida] and made it public and all this gave him more money for his creations. And then the mother India painting was in 2006 Feb. Which he removed from the gallery after protests and also asked for public apology but still this is available in his web site and all over the web. So there is a visible pattern. He needs to be in news so that his auctions do well so once money becomes top priority, art takes a back seat. Today MFH is not a person he is a money machine. And there is obviously a lobby working in his favor.
Artists and intellectuals and philosophers and scientists should have mental freedom free from all fears and inhibitions and only that will bring the very best out of them so it is the society which should provide them such a conducive atmosphere.
But if an artist misuses his freedom there has to be a check. Recently Raj thackeray was arrested and let out on bail for speaking his mind. In fact what he said is what lingers in countless maharastrians and his words still has support. So if his freedom is curtailed on the pretext that it is causing discomfort to a section of population and is creating communal disharmony then the same logic should prevail in MFH case also. Some of his paintings are naked sarawathi goddess making love to a tiger, naked lakshmi sitting on lord ganesh head, naked hanuman, parvathi, draupadi etc. In fact he is yet to paint a fully clothed Hindu. In an interview he has said that he painted Hitler naked in one of his paintings because he wanted to humiliate him. That speaks his mind. So how can he go Scot free?
Freedom should be equal for all citizens and in the right measure. The judgement that ‘it is in the beholder’s view’ can be used for misuse. What happens if a envious neighbour paints our near and dear one’s as naked and uses artistic freedom as a pretext. Artists and doctors see naked bodies more times than normal humans and they do not see it in a perverted view. For an artist anything naked is the sign of purity and beauty. And for a doctor it is a subject[ sorry munnabhai] But a doctor though he performs a medical examination or post mortem or an operation by exposing the subject to nudity does not misuse the opportunity and once it is over he clothes the subject before public reappearance of the subject. A doctor was arrested and is still in jail in Tamilnadu for misusing his profession and blackmailing nurses and patients and got them to his bed and exhibited the scenes in the Internet. Can he also claim the ‘beholders view logic. There are scoundrels who cut and paste naked bodies and superimpose it with popular actress and release it to public which is immoral and illegal. Why should it be by this beholders view logic?
No one can paint anyone else naked without their express consent. So does MFH have the consent of the goddess. May be the ram sethu affidavit be used by his lawyers to question their very existence.
Did the court try to find any motives? Did they try to find whether it was purely an artist view point or a schemy sketch.? Either something was wrong in the arguments or something wrong with the result. What ever it be this one is not convincing. And if I am denied freedom to express my this view I do not mind sharing a cell with MFH.
For an artist any of his creations is like a child. In case of MFH, considering his contributions and genius and his age, he should be let in peace but with a warning not to hurt sentiments and also punishment should be to his children. Any public display of his controversial paintings should be banned by the courts and that should pinch him.
Don’t tie his hands but atleast pinch it .

What an active day for the Indian judiciary. On one day they delivered five keenly watched cases from various courts. The day was specialbecuase it was Akshya trithiyai and also birthday of Ramnath goenka. And it is just two days before first phase of Karnataka elections.

While Lord Ram got a breather, his slave[ ramadasa- translation] got a snub. While Krishna[ kirtunana] was made to cry in his grave, the other Krishna with a flute [ venugopal – translation] won Ram’s man. While hindus were given an opportunity to rejoice Muslims were appeased by giving mf husien a clean chit. The ramar seyhu notice is a big setback for DMK and you would expect them to sulk, but they were seen celebrating, because if ram won temporarily, alagiri defeated krish[ kirtunan] permanently. If alagiri judgement was sad for Aiadmk, they were made to celebrate because of Ramar sethu.

Thank god the court did not infer that kirtunan commit ed suicide and thank god they did not say that saraswathi was born naked amd so Hussein was at his natural best. Thank god thank god More than eighty witness back tracked to save alagiri and his men and now he will flex his muscles and brain foe active politics. Elections are won in newsrooms; prepolls and exits managed opinions are built and destroyed all for a price. The recent prepoll survey in CNN-IBN is yet another pointer. Now NDTV will compliment it in their exits and slowly they will bring their desired result in the state. They have done it before and hoping to repeat. In fact in Tamilnadu assembly what gave DMK victory was the free sops plus the prepoll surveys. All were stage-managed and the propagandists were all rewarded after the election. Congress is trying a replay.

What is news, how much dose of it, how long is it news, what is its expiry date are all directly proportionate to the income due from it.

What is hot news for jaya is not news at all for rest. And what is hot for the kalignar is cold for jaya. Well this is natural. But see what others do. Raj and Sun almost second kalignar. Makkal is pmk voice, Tamilan vck voice. Vijay has no news.

Recently in Times now I saw Arnob the greatest merchant propagating the vodafone line in their dog controversy. Well that was what Arnob tried to convey. So the merchants also decide the texture of the news. It is like coffee. The strength, taste, odor and variety all depend on the maker.

While Priyanka’s secret mission to vellore was hot news for all channels, the denial of such event by the Jailer was just like a passing cloud. It bought drops and thunder but vanished soon with the noise. Baalu was all over for a week and now probably he is in swiss for cooling and maintaining a balance. So many channels and so much news, the newsreader and the audience have all become numb to any news. A bomb or a corrupt minister it is breaking news for a hour and then in some distant corner of the archive. No news is followed upon and many die a natural death. And for the first time, news was hidden for more than a month and made to coincide with a launch of a news edition. How much and how many would have become richer is any body’s guess.

Whenever BJP throws an allegation, the congress says what right does a party who has Bangaru laksman in its side have any right. And the news channels show this more times and take away the sting. Well so news can be colored also, by will. Even a criminal has a constitutional right to ask for an explanation and so why does the BJP keep silent when they face this dilemma. Probably of a fear it might give light to different news, which they may not like.

Traditionally Congress has been a better news manager inside India and poor outside and vice versa for BJP. If BJP has to win it has to learn the tricks. They need to find more pramods and jaitly and prasads. They also need a strategy. They also should learn to buy news hours and Psephologists. All is fair in war and love and so they have to.

In the state Karunanidhi is setting an example not only for the state not only for the country but also for the world. As a journalist he knows all the methods and has invented many more. He knows how silence will kill any news, he knows when to make it news, he knows to eavesdrop, he knows to appoint commissions to kill news, and well he is a genius. And similarly Jaya has to learn and that too quickly how to ‘ manage’ news. News in her channel is only for her eyes. The same news should be made news for other channels also. The solution is this but how to do it is her problem.

More and more politicians and business men are joining jounalism and television for they are wise to realise that they are more in news when they are in the business of news.

And together they have all made News the most expensive commodity on earth. For the common man any news is 100% gas and for the rest it is more of steel and money.

The holy sun

The rift is working fine for both Sun and Kalaignar Tv. The latter is busy carving a niche and is able to propagate Kalignar and his news much more than before. The former has changed color. It has become more religious, a freedom denied before for safeguarding Dravidian principle. Sakhthi kodu, Thiruvilaiyadal and Ramayan are few in its arsenal. If they were one, Sun would have faced the wrath of the kannadigas when hogenakkal was smoking. Sun still operates from arivalayam and the program schedule of both seems to be for avoiding internal competition and is more targeted at rivals.

A double barrel and probably the rift were managed. Well before or after is the question.

Thiruvilayadal has many well-known stars in it. Manorama, Radhika, sarath, Prithiviraj, Radha ravi etc. And the settings are grandeur worth crores, a first for Tamil television. With Kalanidhi by her side, Radhika is about to create one more milestone. Only she could do it and only he can afford it.

Sun tried every star in the state. And when even simran failed it decided to get Hollywood help. That is the smart sun for you. They screened Chronicles of narnia at 7.30 pm on Sunday and are advertising that every Sunday at 7.30 will be Hollywood special. Dubbed in Tamil there will be more audience. Infact a spot survey points out that even Vijay’s kuruvi program in Kalaignar took a beating. Many kept switching between two, but if remotes with kids even vijay failed to lure. The rest of the channels were snoring.
The Sun’s recipe for Saturday nights is a new jodi porutham. Infact this was their first game show about ten years back with Rego at the helm. Now it is different because of grandeur settings, great prizes and new anchor. I felt rego though not handsome was better anchor. But the program keeps the family in hooks waiting to know whether the contestants got it right. Good competition for Anu and Jodi

Simran down

Yesterday I saw Simran telling most of the contestants that they were not up to the mark and they had to work on better concept and acting is about tall and handsome. Well almost all applies for her program also. No wonder Sun demoted her program and cut it short by half hour and gave a ten pm slot instead of a one hour none pm slot. May be because it is elims but the standard is poor and except for the setting everything is gloomy. Even Vijay and Simran are not exceptions. But there is scope. Both are capable and if they work in unison they can give better. May be they have to correct their chemistry first.

Meanwhile Simran Thirai is doing well, as expected.

Dramatic Jodi

Atlast Vijay copied something almost… They had massive settings for their Vijay Jodi number one semis. Atlast we see them spending money. And the rural settings were better than the inside factory one’s. Sivakarthikayan and Aishweraya, Priya and haritha teams are all in direct finals. Next week will be wild card round. It was nice. But not as glossy as manaada. But definitely the Judges more than compensated. The well-orchestrated seemingly at odds pretence to see all three pairs in finals was commendable and definitely the advertisements got them more audience. I have a spot opinion survey to back this statement. There is something very cute about this program.

Summer vasantham

The long awaited [?] Vasant Channel has started effective today noon. The second openly congress support channel, run by an MLA from congress. Mr Vasant kumar is a well-known person in Tamilnadu running a retail chain in his name. A look at the TV program schedule shows it has the usual mega serial in the afternoon, a children program for the evening, religion and sermons for the morning, News three times a day a cookery program etc. Yawn. Hope the content brings us a smile.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi today launched the satellite TV channel Vasanth from the party headquarters at 24, Akbar Road here.

The launching was done in the presence of H. Vasanthkumar, chairman and managing director of the channel, and Congress MLA in Tamil Nadu.

Apart from news and current affairs, the channel will also provide entertainment via tele-serials, feature films and documentaries.

It will also focus on the Congress party and its achievements. It is to begin formal broadcasting from May 19.

The kana kanum brigade’s success in Jodi number one is bringing in more school pupils for summer dance. And the maanada charm and success is making them see stars. The Page three culture is slowly but steadily catching up. Good for the Times. The Next Change?

Now sonymax can sell this video to channels like Timesnow, ABC, BBC, RBC, WBC etc and selling multiple copies should fetch them atleast 10 crores. They can sell rights area wise. Timesnow can get back the money or even get a profit by displaying advertisements as ‘ This slap is sponsored by….’ They also can proudly claim that they were the first to slap the nation. They can put Breaking news caption for atleast two days with this video. Similarly this video should sell like hot cake in Australia. Dvd’s can be sold with title ‘The Century slap’ or ‘The return of the monkey’ or ‘The wise caption’s knock’

Now what does poor Harbhajan do this summer, jobless? May be a guilty sreesant will sponsor a soothing massage for him in the land of gods- Kerala. Ban IPL

What the Australians could not achieve, ‘Punjab’ is about to achieve- Ban its own puthar. Nothing can be a greater irony. IPL has achieved dividing the Indian team and so soon.

It is a way of opening the doors of Indian cricket money to foreigners, which so far was the exclusive right of Indian cricketers. Now they will also become popular here and act in advertisements and even bollywood. And in collaboration with them are the bollywood stars. They have bought these cricketers to show who is more powerful and has found this new way to cut competition in the advertisement arena.

This slap will reduce the Indian cricketers to mere commodities who can be bought and sold and are at the mercy of their managers and BCCI. And it is this power game which is tightening the noose around Harbhajan. Sreesant was live on TV saying that he is ready to forget and forgive, but now the Kings have complained. Probably the Australian Tom moodily pressurized to take this Stance. And the ‘King’ Yuvaraj has failed to act as an Indian. No wonder Rahul Gandhi feels insulted on being called Yuvaraj. If Harbhajan is banned the whole nation will be insulted by this Yuvaraj. We are now forced to take moral education from an ex oomph actress, who thinks she is fighting some patliputra war and is citing Krishna’s gita to Justify her act.

A man who is the brain behind an attack on The Indian Parliament is escaping death sentence because he is a muslim and it is time for votes. But poor harbhajan is going to be hanged, by his own state – No wonder the Canadian khalistani’s gather support. Banning him is as good as hanging him and this for a small fight between ‘brothers’ is ridiculous.

Well if Harbhajan slapping is a sin, preethi complaining is even more a slap on the whole nation. And now which is a bigger sin?

This nation saw a few days back, a daughter of an assassinated ex prime minister meeting an accomplice of the assassination and immediately without even questioning her motives, the nation and more so the media judged it as a noble gesture. Our father of the nation has said ‘if slapped show the other cheek’ And if such a slap should end a career of a proud Indian, the gods must be crazy.

Today only four foreign players are allowed. With in two years seven will be allowed. And then a simple clause that atleast one should be Indian will suffice. And there after like a South African team or a Zimbabwe team the whites will dictate our team.

Modi is not bothered about the fate of bhaaji and Indian cricket because he is busy counting his money. And Pawer is not bothered because the fallout will give him more power.

The tournament now is at such a stage where a written off team headed by an Australian and coached by the most hated coach could win the cup and finish all Indian cricket glory. The bigger noose is probably on the wait.

This slap should bring us back to our senses and if harbhajan is banned, IPL should also go.

I just hope all this is publicity gimmick and if so I am happy.

The most ridiculous thing I have heard is calling some one as a guest and keeping her outside because you do not like her dress, and that too by a college. They should have done their homework before deciding on her as their speaker. And after she turns up, being so undiplomatic surely lessens the caliber of the administrators of that college. Loyola College is a college of repute and this is a mar on their repute. But this incident which happened four months ago, gave Rose the reason to host a show regarding dress code in colleges. But citing this incident and female emancipation as reasons to do away with dress code is even more ridiculous.

Leena Manimekalai’s boycott is the best answer for a self-respecting free woman of a democratic country, but whether dress code in colleges is necessary or not, is an entirely different issue. She could have been magnanimous by accepting the sentiments of the college and then registered her protests, but then this program by Rose would not have occurred. Now lets hear her argument. What can you learn in a college, which does not give freedom of your choice even in dress- she asks? Madam the most broadminded are not the naked, nor are all burkha clad narrow minded. Dress has very less to do with the mind. A bearded intellect in the show also opined why opinions of the students are not collected and whether any data is there to prove that academic excellence increases with dress restrictions. Ridiculous.

The dress code in colleges is neither to improve academics nor to downplay females. Females unlike men have many ups and downs and curves and bends in their structure and right from top to bottom of them is seductive for any normal man. A college is supposed to be a temple for wisdom and a higher school of learning, were the only focus should be to prepare for future. I am sure females do not need a college to prepare themselves what to wear in the competitive world outside. And a freedom to dress or undress by their choice is not the only way to enlarge the mind.

Not very long ago colleges in Chennai were packed mostly by the city bred but now it is a mix and more from the outside. After more than a dozen years in a uniformed school atmosphere they walk in to college mainly for higher education. Dress should be secondary for them. It is also a very delicate age- peak of teen. Some are from an ultra modern stratum and many are from a conservative background. Students are from different faiths and social strata. So it is wise in such circumstances to have a dress code to avoid unpleasenteries. Flaunting your wardrobe should not be in your list of priorities here. There is always a future to do so, so why the big fuss?

She and the psychiatrist opined why should men look below and not the face? Madam if they do not look below then they all must be ‘Rose’- no offence intended. Shalini was correct that even a presence of a female would be a biological disturbance to a male that too in his high teen. So if dressed improper where will his mind be? In the program both shalini and Leena were dressed well, decent and not provocative. Inspite of no dupatta I did not find their dress provocative. But without rules to expect the same from all will not be possible. Though dressed in sari, Rose looked more seductive than the rest so when shalini questioned, why only salwar and Saree and not pant & shirt? Makes some sense. However to avoid a sudden culture shock and to reduce subjectivity the colleges must have chosen those dresses. And also if the top is heavy and large, a shirt would look very distractive and a salwar can use a dupatta for any size. So I do not find anything wrong in the dress code and these females should become broad-minded to see this.

If you see any western website or magazine or journal, you will see many surveys and research papers on psychology almost week after week. They do intensive search on the mind, while in India all we do is using these text to look at us. That is why I loathe the Indian psychiatrists because they try to look Indians in a western perspective. May be a call center employee will fit the bill not komala valli or arumugam from down south. Shalini surely knows her subject but has she made enough attempts to understand ‘The Indian’.

Periyar told females to wear shirts. Well may be but not necessary in a college. She can and may be she should in the outside. A strong male should get used to any kind of female and all kind of their dresses in the college itself so that he can be more confident outside, and vice versa can be a sound argument but I think our society should homogeneously mature to that level. It will some day, but till then let the codes exist.

The principal conducted herself very well and she was the best. The politician was outnumbered but firm in her words. Rose coordination was very good, as always. I never knew when it ended and still unsure whether the next episode is a continuation.

Well, Baalu the great has proved how foolish and hard working, these ambani’s, Tata’s and other industrialists are. They are fools because they are yet to start AMK and TMK. He is a gutsy person who is asking a shocked India what is wrong? . My son was not doing well, I know the PM and so I asked for his help what is wrong? If I cannot take care of myself how will I take care of others, what is wrong? As long as the power is with me I can do whatever and whenever, so what is wrong? If each industrialist is inspired by my actions and starts his/their own party and centers of influence, what is wrong? Lucky son and lucky father, what is wrong?

Zakir's Kalki

For the first time, I saw peace TV in some distant village, in a neighboring state far away from Chennai, while on tour. A virulent Zakir naik was mesmerizing a herd of people by his memory of verses from quran and other religious texts. His body language reminds me of Musharraf. In a typical ‘I know it all’ fashion some times and ‘ only I know it all’ the remaining times, this thin stature makes you believe what he believes in. He mentions the stanza number, chapter number and even any sub clause number with such ease that he immediately impresses as a genius on prowl. He then uses them with such authority and tries to prove that ‘Kalki avatar’, who is expected to arrive by Hindus has already arrived as Muhammad the prophet. Since I have not read the Vedas nor do I know if his quotes, translations and numbers are correct, I am not quoting him. But it did sound sensible. By using Vedas and Gita so extensively in his religious comparison, he has reluctantly admitted the greatness of Hinduism and its early scriptures. And if his is correct, then this needs to be spread. If not it should be loudly rebuked. Now who will do it. The problem is lack of any credible and loud Hindu script researcher in our country. From the Web I understand that this propaganda is on for many years now and there have been some public debates of Zakir naik with Sri Sri Ravishankar where Zakir rebuked raviji. Not unexpected for Sri Sri Ravishankar is more peace loving and not an antagonist. However Zakir is a scholar with repute and there is a need to ponder what he says. Well, Krishna is Christ, Brahma is Abraham and Kalki is Muhammad. Hinduism seems to be a supermarket of religions. Any enlightened soul to clarify this?

Some Ideas are stars

The Idea star singer grand finale was held on 19th. Najib was the winner of a 40 lakh flat, Durga and Tushar won cars and Arun won a lakh. Well it was in expected lines. In fact many forums are crying foul. Many feel this was fixed long ago. In fact even to me something beyond comprehension is how Najib got so many votes this after he was lagging behind just a week ago in the mega. There was no spectacular performance, this week to warrant that. May be an ISI hand or a voting on communal lines or may be fixing by the net itself. Ironically, at the same time when this was telecast live by Asianet, Times now in a program Heart of the matter was discussing how reality event winners in India are soon in oblivion, if past is evidence. Most of the reality shows bring out surprise winners and they vanish sooner or later. I remember how Qazi and Rooprekha were seen all over before winning and soon they vanished. And Qazi winning then was akin to Najib winning today. Sorry if I sound communal but some times truth is stranger than fiction. Infact many a times the losers have won in real life. Most of the idea star singer contestants especially the one’s in advance rounds have sacrificed one academic year and hope they justify it in future. Well idea star singer 2008 is supposed to be bigger with the biggest prize in India, as of now. Coming soon….

Poor Vivek: This power is not with him

The above is what the present chief minister of Tamilnadu believes in, I suppose. If not how do you explain his eavesdropping and the recent muscling of the RK mutt building personnel to vacate. What is wrong?

Suddenly he is hyperactive in acquisition and demolitions and is hell bound to change the landscape of Chennai. His police are accused of eavesdropping with enough evidence. His right hand central minister is accused of openly flaunting polygamy [Thank god he did not say- I learnt this from my mentor] and bending and breaking rules to favor companies owned by his family. The minister openly challenges the Prime minister to respond and also says he learnt how to use his minister ship from his mentor-, At least I did not understand whether this was a defense or a subtle offence. I also wonder what is in his sleeve about which the Sonia’s and Singh’s of Delhi are so scared. Is there a Vellore angle to it? – But that is another story.

I am amused by the news that DMK had asked the RK mutt [Vivekanandar Illam] staff to vacate before April 24th. The reason being Classical Tamil office will be at this premise. Why? No more space in Chennai? Or may be it was Anna’s dream or the dream of one of the CM’s wives to teach Tamil in this building? Nowadays all actions of the chief minister seems to have its origin in some distant dream, mostly of the past. He is suddenly in a hurry to fulfill the dreams of his near and dear one’s. He is relishing his own poems and loves to hear praises and hymns on his favor. His concentration continues to be in his pen, words and television. His chief Secretary is busy giving orders to his subordinates on how to pin estate and be in favor. His prowess in quotes, anecdotes and historical references keeps his face visible in any assembly proceeding. When the whole house demands proactive response to the growing violence and thefts in Tamilnadu, he almost says it is a natural phenomenon. He said just like how in a cyclone or tsunami, all parties should unite to face this menace. So what does that mean. It is beyond his control- a natural phenomenon?

The whole world is marching ahead and we are still living for a past. It seems as if Tamilnadu was born to make true his dreams. No one dares to question him either out of fear or respect for his age. And that is the impotence he has bestowed his citizens with. The bravery of today’s Dravidians is in defacing statues and temple thefts. This society has never been so degraded. Tamilians living outside Tamilnadu are entirely at their mercies and they are at receiving end be it Malaysia, Srilanka, Karnataka or Afghanistan. Even here in Tamilnadu he is entirely on his own. Even Temples are no safer. Murders and thefts are reported with increasing alarmity and our cm’s entire defense is this is comparatively ok. Well what do you expect if the Police are preoccupied in eavesdropping and security to the various houses of his very large kith and kin?

He has done lots of good and that is not to be taken away. His recent thinking of making Tamil compulsory in colleges is welcome. This probably is the only positive step I can see to save the language. I did see that in some dailies today that if this is implemented it could mean loss of jobs for other language instructors and inconvenience for other state and country citizens. It is high time Tamilian has at least this piece of land for his own. His magnanimity in home is not fetching him any points when living outside. A recent census says there is a huge Kannada speaking population in Tamilnadu. While they live in ease here, the Tamilian in Karnataka is living in a constant fear and Karnataka has been very unaccomoditative on any bilateral issue. His concern for all this and the proposed corrective action is commendable.

All that is needed for this capable hand is proper priorities and how will he know they are wrong at the moment unless there are voices on it. He has aged but not much wiser for his actions are frozen in his past. He thinks he is still young and is fighting politically day in and day out with his adversaries. He needs to show more of his wisdom by being less patriarchal and may be relinquish sooner and pave way for fresh young thoughts even if it were from his clan.

I love my country for giving me the freedom to express as this, but loath it for being largely unresponsive for any such progressive thought. The Likes of Baalu and nidhi’s know this better and that is why they are more and more becoming followers of Swami Vivekananda who said, “ All Power is with in you. You can do anything and everything. Believe in it.”

Vasant TV is starting from May 5Th. After more than a year of continuous postponements and dates, it is finally on the anvil. The trial shows have already commenced and a series of serials and game shows are already in advanced stage of shooting. Mr Vasant kumar the popular business man MLA and a staunch congressman will personally supervise the arrangements and programs of the channel.

Vijay TV is very cleverly luring the children by screening summer special films for them every afternoon 2.00 PM.

Porantha veeda pugantha veeda is still giving a tough fight to both simran thirai and bharathiraja's thekkathi seemaile. Though Bharathi raja stuns the viewers as usual by his crisp and apt picturization of village sequences, simran dazzles and captivates city bred. But continuity seems to hold the porantha veeda viewers. Some of the house wives whom we quizzed in Chennai said they switch between simran and porantha veeda. The sun shines even at 8.30 in night.

Kushboo appears in Kalignar Tv and Jaya Tv in the same time at 8.00 pm on Sundays, in one as anchor and in other as Judge. This Sunday we saw her in both as usual but as totally different faces. In the 'judge' show she tries to match Rambha by a short crop and sexy attire, while it is formal wear in the anchor role. She is also producing a serial for the forthcoming ZEE Tamil channel we hear. Maanada myulada as usual rocked. The reasons for their success according to an opinion poll we conducted are 1. Choreography, 2. Judges, 3. Settings, 4. Participants. While for jodi number one 1. Judges, 2. participants, 3. choreography was the ratings. This week, as expected Uday & Gayathri were eliminated from Vijay Jodi number one. The rating so far is 1. Kiran & priya, 2. Dinesh & Haritha 3.Iyyappan & Suhasini and sivakarthikeyan & aishwarya. In Maanada myulada there were no eliminations. two pair are at 49/60 and have one more week to save their skin.

Super fight

The mistake simbu and prithivi did was not to copyright their tested method of raising trp by verbal tiff action in real reel. If only they had they could be getting a permanent and continuous flow of unimaginable funds to their kitty.

Simran enters and Vijay adhiraj poses an uncomfortable question regarding she missing out in chandramukhi. But already Simran was in no mood and properly charged by the producer. She calls to cut the shots and asks vijay whether he questioned her judgement? for which Vijay replies no one is suspecting you madam. But later by persistent questioning he did reply he replied to a query by producer, as an audience. And Simran properly asked who was he to suspect her? A clever producer played his cards well for a scene or everything was stage managed or vijay is trying to edge out simran slimely. Earlier also in one show, Vijay kept unusually repeating that 'you are the permanent judge' and we had also questioned - who is having the doubt?

That the show was not delivering was evident. The cast and selection of candidates were poor and a pre screen was necessary and except for simran this show was damp. So changes were necessary. They did bring some changes and coupled it with a well advertised tiff. And sure they got more TRP which will be seen soon.
