The above photo is not from kandhamal but from the streets of France in 2005 when Sarkozhy was the Interior Minister.
Is Sarkozhy against massacre in India because they are Christians or because they are human. If it is because they are Christians then is he some kind of god father for all the Christians in the world. If he had expressed regrets for the Swami's assassination also then he would have been more human. It is purely an internal matter and the government of India is dealing with it. The communal rift is very deep and this problem cannot be resolved in a day. He as an administrator should know it. The cause for the rift is a killing of a swami which the Hindu tribals believe an act by Christian community. There is some Marxist angle also which even if it is, may be sponsored by a christian mission for they benefit the most by his demise. The culprits are still at large and that is why the rift is widening.
The subsequent riots and massacre of christian homes and churches is of course a national shame. But when a big tree falls the earth is bound to shake. The more apt reading of the situation is by an official linked to the place-"Kandhamal is an ethnic and communal laboratory," "Every side is trying out its own moves."
It is made seem to the world that the Christians in this region were very peaceful doing nothing wrong and suddenly scores of Hindus started killing them and went on a rampage. And the missionaries are doing their best to increase their bank balance by making this seem a catastrophe.
Sarkozhy is not an epitome of justice. He has this reputation of being anti minority in his own country and so what right either moral, ethical or political does he have to cry his heart out for minority bashing in a distant more vibrant large democracy.
The French Muslim rebellion of 2005 was largely because of his reference to them as scum when he was the interior Minister of France. In fact he became president by such open hatred only.
There are approximately 6 million Muslims in France and the large majority live, because of religious and racial discrimination, in hopeless poverty and destitution. Under these circumstances, all it took was a small spark to start the major rebellion the French in 2005. That spark occurred on 27 October in the Paris ghetto of Clichy-sous-Bois, after two teenagers of Mauritanian and Tunisian origin were electrocuted in a power substation while attempting to hide from the usually brutal French police. The riots went on for weeks and a state of emergency was clamped for more than three months. The Same Sarkozhy was the Interior minister then, used heavy police force which further increased the anger with in.Sarkozy inflamed the rioters by calling them "scum." Many of the youths have said they won't stop the burning until Sarkozy is removed from office. The riots spread to 300 French towns and cities, before the emergency was clamped.
Now such a person is talking about minority rights. Here in India the minority have freedom to pursue and propagate their religion. Most of them are prosperous too and a slight kishmish in such a large country is not comparable to the french riots of sarkhozy's making in 2005. In France you cannot be a citizen if you wear a burqa nor can you be in a French school with a turban. Well they have laws and rules for it. Here in India there is freedom plenty. Why should we hear from him to govern? Also see French secularism under threat written in January 2008.
Of course the need to end the massacre here is urgent, for human sake and not for any god's sake and nor for the French sake.
“Better be a good Christian and say nothing about it than say a lot about it and not be one.”
